Superman Came Back!

Last year we didn’t celebrate Halloween because I had Kenaz. This year we planed to go to a couple Halloween events over the weekend but Akiva and I got stomach flu. Monday we joined a Halloween party in our apartment complex. This year’s our theme is Superman again. I thought Akiva didn’t want to wear it because now he has an “own taste of fashion”. It is very hustle to put him clothes every morning and at night. In addition to that, Halloween is not popular in Suzhou. Akiva’s international kindergarten doesn’t do any events. He doesn’t know what Halloween is. Akiva was very in a good mood. He said he wanted to be a superman. He wasn’t even afraid to go to stranger’s houses. After five houses Akiva said he had enough and wanted to go home. I tried to convince him there were more houses and more candies. Again Akiva said it was enough.
We were back to home. Kenaz looked very serious. I think he was traumatized. On the other hand, Akiva was very happy to get a lot of candies.

Do You Mind?

I was at KFC the other day. I had to have a quick lunch. It was already 1 o’clock. There wasn’t many people. I took my plate and sat on four person’s table. I started eating. A stranger sat on my table. I told her I want to eat by myself. She didn’t understand. I repeated myself. She couldn’t understand me. Instead she asked me “You mean you have a company?” I told her “Yes, there is someone.” She nodded and moved to a next table where a young woman was sitting and eating. The young woman didn’t pay attention to her a new company. There were a lot more available tables. I know why she wanted to share a table with me because most the locals don’t understand privacy and personal space. When they see chairs they sit. There is not much thinking behind. Anyway that woman made me feel I am a stingy urban bitch.

Update on San Diego Situation

The above neighborhood looks a lot like Tierrasanta

From Mom: "Jesse told me that people have been asking about us. We are fine. The devistation in SD has been awful. 560,000 people had to be evaculated and many have lost there homes but luckily few have been hurt and there has only been 1 death. The Santa Ana winds are gone today and federal aid has brought more helicopters and planes to fight the fires. Thanks to everyone who was concerned about us."

Thanks to all those who have wrote to us to share their concern. Also, our prayers go out to Denny's Family (Fumie's husband's Uncle) who lost his home in the fire.

BTW, an interesting case of Deja-vu: life and times of the covners family in suzhou, china: Relieved

As for us in Suzhou... lets see...
Akiva is becoming a gangster by the time he is 3;
Kenaz is almost walking and he is becoming a fighter;
We went to Parent Day at Akiva's kindergarten and two parents of girls told everyone that their daughters love Akiva;
Akiva's teacher said Akiva is best at soccer, but feels shy when there are too many people around he does not know;
We discovered lead paint on the walls of our apartment;
Haga not renewing her Visa caused us to receive a $500 fine;
My nasal infection;
Akiva and Kenaz are having nose issues;
Akiva learning to say "G-d damn-it" from me;
Two weeks ago some goat-fucker stole my bicycle, but I got a new, better bicycle now;
Yesterday I gave a kick-ass presentation to a lot of German bosses;
And last week on three separate occasions some peasants on bicycles crashed into the taxi I was in.

To much to worry about.
